Contents Size Age Material
' (gallons)
Waste Oil 400 <2 Steel
years
' Motor Oil 300 <2 Steel
years
Automatic Transmission 150 <2 Steel
Fluid yes
Waste Antifreeze <2 Plastic
' years
' The three steel tanks are located in the oil storage room (Photographs 1,3). The tanks were
observed to be in good condition, with no apparent leaks. However, the floor of the room
was-oily and housekeeping in the room was slightly deficient, as shown in Photographs No.
' 1, 2 and 3. Tanks are regularly monitored for purposes of inventory control and waste
management.
' The waste oil and antifreeze tanks are pumped out by Evergreen Environmental Services, of
Newark, California, which is a licensed hazardous waste transporter, and operates a
permitted recycling facility. Transport and disposal manifests are retained at the dealership.
' Based on review of recently dated manifests, it appears the waste tanks are serviced
approximately once every two months.
' Hydraulic Lifts and Oil Water Separators
Four underground single-column hydraulic lifts are used on the property. No problems
' associated with the lifts were reported by site personnel. A small oil/water separator is
associated with the shop's car wash, which drains to the local sewage treatment plant. No
permit is required for this wastewater discharge, according to local officials.
As discussed in Section 5.0 this report, soil samples were taken from near the underground
' hydraulic lifts and the oil/water separator.
Hazardous Materials
Hazardous materials typical of an auto service shop are used on the site, including petroleum
' hydrocarbon fuels and oils, hydrocarbon solvents, coolant gases and solutions, and aqueous
cleaners. Material safety data sheets are available on site and maintained by the service
manager. The largest volume of hazardous materials (other than oils or antifreeze) are
' Privileged and Confidential Prepared at the Request of Counsel
' 11
