Two soil samples per borehole were submitted to Sherwood labs and tested for TEPH-D
MO by EPA method 8015m and Halogenated Solvents by EPA method 8010.
' Former Underground Storage Tanks
1. A hole was cored through the asphalt surface of the tank excavation.
' 2. A borehole was attempted by hand auger methods but could not be advanced because the
excavation had been backfilled with pea gravel.
3. A new hole was cored through the asphalt along the western side of the excavation
4. One borehole (HB-8) was drilled by hand auger methods to the capillary fringe,
approximately 7 feet bgs.
5. The borehole was logged for the geologic properties, discoloration and any unnatural
odor as observed in the drill cuttings that are removed during the drilling process.
' 6. A soil sample was collected at the bottom of the borehole.
7. The borehole was grouted up with neat cement grout under the supervision of Lori
Duncan of SJC PHS/EHD.
' 8. The soil sample was submitted to Sherwood labs and tested for BTEX by EPA method
8020, TPH-G by EPA method 5030/8015m, TEPH-D, MO by EPA method 8015m.
Waste Storage
1. Several areas around the storage area that had visible oil staining were investigated. The
rock surfacing was pulled back and boreholes were advanced by hand auger methods to
determine the heaviest stained area.
2. One borehole (HB-9) was drilled through the area of heaviest staining by hand auger
methods to 5.5 feet bgs.
3. The borehole was logged for the geologic properties, discoloration and any unnatural
' odor as observed in the drill cuttings that are removed during the drilling process.
4. A soil sample was collected at 1-foot bgs and the bottom of the borehole.
5. The borehole was grouted up with neat cement grout under the supervision of Lori
Duncan of SJC PHS/EHD.
' 6. Two soil samples were submitted to Sherwood labs and tested for TEPH-D, MO by EPA
method 8015m and Halogenated Solvents by EPA method 8010.
' 55 Gallon Drums & Staining
1. Several areas around the storage area that had visible paint staining were investigated.
The rock surfacing was pulled back and boreholes were advanced by hand auger methods
to determine the heaviest stained area.
' 2. One borehole (HB-10) was drilled by hand auger methods to 3 feet bgs.
3. The borehole was logged for the geologic properties, discoloration and any unnatural
odor as observed in the drill cuttings that are removed during the drilling process.
4. A soil sample was collected at the bottom of the borehole.
5. The borehole was grouted up with neat cement grout under the supervision of Lori
Duncan of SJC PHS/EHD.
6. The soil sample was submitted to Sherwood labs and tested for Halogenated Solvents by
EPA method 8010.
