M. Scott Mansholt - 2 - 10 February 2005
ChevronTexaco
Former TAOC Pump Station
1.06 feet of floating product. In December, product was measured at 0.68 and 0.28 feet respectively for
REW-2 and REW-3. Approximately two gallons floating product was removed from REW-2 and
slightly less than one gallon from REW-3 this quarter. According to the report, the amount of product
measured for the one month interval of November to December, suggests that the increased removal
frequency may result in a decrease of product thickness in the wells. These findings and future product
removal frequencies will be reevaluated following review of the Q1 2005 monitoring and product
removal report.
Geomatrix is planning to implement a soil and groundwater investigation(Work plan approved by
Regional Board staff, 3 June 2004) to evaluate the extent of impacts north-northwest, downgradient of
the site. Currently, ChevronTexaco and UPRR are in the process of obtaining access to the properties to
be investigated.
Quarterly groundwater monitoring and product removal will continue until further notice. Product
removal was completed on 20 January 2005 and the next quarterly monitoring and sampling
event/product removal will be conducted 16 February 2005.
Based on our review we have the following comments:
• The report stated that the fencing surrounding the site is inspected monthly and that during the
December 2004 inspection, fence damage was noted and repairs were to be completed the
following month. The purpose of the fencing is to prevent unauthorized access. In the future,
when fence damage is noted, repairs should be implemented immediately.
If you have any questions please call Dean Hubbard at (559) 445-5179.
SHELTON R. GRAY / C.
