to leave an abandoned tank in the ground.
Exxon always tries to get them out of the
ground as quickly as possible so that if there
is a problem discovered then you can start to
address it.
5. QUESTION: How long will it take to complete the soil
removal and replacement? And how long do you
think it will take before the site can be
rebuilt ?
EXXON
RESPONSE: To address the first part of the question,
about how long will it actually take to
complete the removal of the soil - We are
taking that soil out for stockpiling and
sending the samples over for analysis and then
coming back and having the equipment remove
that soil to the appropriate location which
should be any where from 60 to 90 days.
To address the second part of the question,
this is a site that Exxon leases and we will
not be building again on this site. As for
future plans for the site for the property
owners, some of that will depend on further
investigation that will take place after this
site is completed as far as soil removal and
leveling of the site. Clean soil will be put
back into the site, the site will be leveled
and further investigation will be done to
address the water underneath the site, the
ground water. Depending on what that
investigation shows, plans for future building
or whatever the owners- may have planned for
the site will depend on the results of that
later investigation.
6. QUESTION: Will you to continue to monitor lead in the
area in regards to the school ?
EXXON
RESPONSE: Yes. I would like to mention, that we took
some samples when we removed the soil and
there was no organic lead that was detected,
no soluable lead that would dissolve in water.
When it is soluable, that's when it is
dangerous, but this lead was either native or
however it got there, this lead was insoluble
so that's not a problem in the soils. In the
groundwater, we have not had any detectable
levels of gasoline constituents moving off
site so it doesn't appear that there was a
problem there. When we perform these,
