cleaned.
02122107 WN
Returned call from Roberto, the maintenance manager. He said Bruce, the manager for the
northern region of the company, told the maintenance workers that the CIH didn't find anything and
to go back to work. The office is in this wing and after awhile, several workers felt sick and went to
the emergency room. Told him that the area was not to be occupied until the CIH cleared it with
EHD and that the area would not be cleared until later this evening at the earliest.
2122107 KLF
Received a call stating people had re-entered the building.
I phoned Beale and explained that people were already inside the building and Beale stated that
was true. Beale said he was currently onsite and he removed the "Do Not Enter" signs from the
building allowing residents to re-enter. I asked what the results were and he stated he did not have
them yet and would not have them until 6 pm that evening. I asked why he let people enter the
building and Beale stated that he didn't believe the results would show any contamination. I told
Beale he had no authority to remove the signs or to allow re-entry of the residents or anyone else
until we knew it was safe and until the carpets were cleaned. Beale stated he must have
misunderstood our conversation and he would remove everyone from the building.
Received calf from COSFD Ed Lovedahl stating people had re-entered the building and he wanted
to know the status of our investigation. I explained the status of the investigation so far and that
we were awaiting results.
02/23/07 WN
Received call from a resident, Margie Rothery, 933-9229, who said that she was just told by
Rozann that the building was opened up and if we knew what the source of the smell was. She
had respiratory problems and would like to let her doctor know what she was exposed to. I told her
that I haven't heard, but there are two other people in our office working on this and 1 would check
with them and see when they were cleared to reoccupy and if we have any other information.
2123107 KLF
I received an email from Beale with his report of the sampling results and his recommendation to
allow re-entry of residents and employees to the building. Additionally, he stated in his report that
the owner may want to clean the carpet but it was not a requirement of re-entry.
I received a call from Mr. Bruce Burke, Regional Manager of the Retirement Housing Foundation
wanting to know when he would receive some kind of official notification from EH allowing him to
re-open the building. I asked him if he had cleaned the carpet yet and he said not yet but they
were scheduled to arrive at 3 pm today. I told him I would fax him a letter allowing re-entry once
the carpet was professionally cleaned.
I faxed Burke the letter to allow reoccupation once the carpet was cleaned.
I received a phone call form Lovedahl asking about the status of the building and told him I faxed a
letter to Burke allowing reoccupation once the carpets were cleaned. Lovedahl stated the building
had already been reoccupied and the carpet was not yet cleaned. Lovedahl stated he told Burke
that was a liability allowing reentry without authorization.
02/27/07 WN
Received call from Roberto, the maintenance manager, who called saying the smell is back. He
3
