i
Vogue Cleaners page 2 j
2315 N. California St., Stockton !
work plan comment letter
i
Prior to approving the installation of MW-1 S&D and MW-6S&D, EHD requires
that you submit a revised well construction detail that demonstrates what type of
centralizers will be used, where the centralizers will be placed, and confirmation
that an over-bore destruction for this nested well in the future will be done with at
least a 14-inch auger.
An alternative to the 'nested' well installation w uld be to 'cluster' the well
construction, that is, placing the casing for MWA S and the casing for MWA D (as
well as MW-6S and MW-6D) in separate 8-inch boreholes, installed within 5-feet i
of each other. Monitoring wells installed in this manner would only need an fl-
inch auger for the over-bore destruction and not the 14-inch auger required for a
10-inch, nested well destruction.
Detectable amounts of 1,2-DCA are present in existing MW-1. In order to
properly destroy this well, the contents of the b rehole must be removed and the
hole grouted with neat cement (over-bore destruction). Pressure grout
destruction is not approved for this-well.
I
Although necessary, the work plan to destr y MWA by pressuring grouting
and replacing it with nested monitoring wel MWAS&D and installing
nested MW-6S&D is inadequate and not apr roved as submitted [H & C.
25296.10(c)(3).]. Please provide a revision thE t addresses the concerns noted
above.
You may contact Michael Infurna at (209) 468-3454 if you have any questions.
Donna Heran, REHS, Director
Environmental Health Department
Michael J.
