fs
PhAh4ps 66 Company Febru 27,2002
Circle K Store#1205,16470 Cambnd a Street LathropCA
• Groundwater Monitoring Wells. Three to five groundwater
monitoring wells will be installed at locations determined by the
Geoprobe@) assessment Soil borings will be drilled using 8-inch
diameter hollow-stem auger Upon completion of drilling, a 2-inch
diameter groundwater monitoring well will be installed in each
boring Groundwater is anticipated to be encountered at
approximately 12-15 feet below ground surface (bgs) The wells will
be screened from approximately 5 feet below ground surface to 10
feet below where groundwater is first encountered Field procedures
for groundwater monitoring well installation are provided as
Attachment B
• Monitoring Well Development and Sampling. After installation,
the monitoring wells will be developed by rigorously surging the
wells over the length of the screen intervals and by purging
approximately 10 casing volumes of water After well development,
groundwater samples will be collected from the newly installed wells
and sent under standard chain-of-custody procedures to a California
State-certified laboratory The groundwater samples will be analyzed
for TPHg using modified EPA Method 8015, BTEX and MtBE using
EPA Method 8020, and fuel oxygenates by EPA 8260 Field
procedures for groundwater monitoring well development and
sampling are provided as Attachment B
• Well Surveying. Upon completion of well construction, the wells
will be surveyed by a licensed surveyor to a local benchmark relative
to mean sea level The groundwater gradient will be interpreted
utilizing wellhead elevations and depth-to-water measurements
• Soil and Water Disposal Soil cuttings generated during drilling
operations will be temporarily stored onsite and covered with plastic
sheeting pending characterization and disposal Soil cuttings will be
removed by Tosco's disposal contractor to an appropriate disposal
facility Water generated during steam cleaning will be temporarily
stored in DOT-approved 55-gallon drums pending transport by
Tosco's disposal contractor to an appropriate disposal or treatment
facility Soil cuttings and purge water drums will be temporarily
stored onsite for approximately 4 to 8 weeks
• Report. A report will be prepared after completion of necessary field
work The report will include soil boring logs, soil and groundwater
analytical results, chain-of-custody documentation, and conclusions
TOSCO/12 05!W KPLAN 1205
