y
Ms.Victoria McCartney
October 24,2006
2. Soil lithology and stratigraphy underlying the site has been sufficiently defined using CPT and
will be supplemented with the continuous soil logging at the deep monitoring well location
proposed above. Therefore, the completion of one CPT boring as proposed within the previous _
Work Plan is not necessary.
The following sections define the proposed work tasks that will be implemented as part of this revised
Work Plan.
r
PROPOSED SCOPE OF WORK
The scope of work proposed for this assessment includes the installation of one groundwater monitoring
well (MW-18132). The location of the proposed groundwater monitoring well is shown on Figure 1. The
purpose of this assessment is to confirm the petroleum hydrocarbon impacts to groundwater within the
deep flow zone underlying the site as observed in grab water samples reported in the 2004 Site
Assessment Report by SECOR, dated June 11,2004. A summary of field and laboratory procedures to be
followed during these activities is included in Attachment 2. The specific scope of work is described
below.
r Site Specific Health and Safety Plan
As required by the Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) Standard"Hazardous Waste
Operations and Emergency Response" guidelines (29 Code of Federal Regulations Section 1910.120),
and by California Occupational Health and Safety Administration (Cal-OSHA) "Hazardous Waste
Operations and Emergency Response" guidelines (California Code of Regulations Title 8, Section 5192),
BBL will prepare a site-specific health and safety plan(HASP)prior to the commencement of fieldwork.
Field staff and contractors will review the HASP before beginning field operations at the site.
Underground Utility Line Locating
Underground Service Alert (USA) will be notified a minimum of 48 hours before drilling activities to
identify public utilities in the vicinity of the proposed borings. In conjunction with the USA, a private
utility locating company will be utilized to further evaluate boring locations relative to underground
utilities.
Permitting
Applicable permits will be obtained from the City of Stockton and SJCEHD, as necessary, prior to
commencing field activities.
rr Groundwater Monitoring Well
The boring for the proposed deep well will be advanced using sonic drilling methods and soil samples
will be collected continuously for visual classification of the soil lithology to an approximate total depth -
of 115 feet below grade. Soil samples will not be submitted for chemical analysis.
.r As requested by the SJCEHD the target depth for the monitoring well will be either 105 or 115 feet below
ground surface (bgs) based on the observed subsurface stratigraphy, with a corresponding well screen
interval of either 100 to 105 or 110 to 115 feet bgs. The well will be constructed of 2-inch diameter PVC
risers with a 5-foot length of 0.010-inch slotted screen section, and will be finished at grade with a flush-
mount protective casing set into a concrete surface pad.
J:\D0006\9-0557_00261022Work Plan Revision.doc
BLASLAND,BOUCK&LEE, INC.
an ARCADIS company
r
