KLEiNFELDER <br /> 7 DISCUSSION OF FINDINGS <br /> Kleinfelder conducted the preliminary environmental site assessment in accordance with the <br /> i scope and limitations of ASTM-Practice E1527-94 and our proposal 20-1129-30 dated <br /> November 18, 1990 <br /> The site is adjacent to a retail service station (ARCO) located at 205 North Center Street which <br /> has the potential to Impact the site because of existing underground storage tanks and <br /> ' documentation as a Leaking Underground Storage Tank (LUST) site Kleinfelder recommends <br /> that soil and water samples be collected in the vicinity of the service station and along the south <br /> seawall to assess the potential release of contaminants within the south seawall Please note the <br /> sampling along the seawall has already commenced, and the results of that sampling will be <br /> detailed in a separate report <br /> There are several drains and underground pipes which propagate throughout and beneath the site <br /> The origin and construction material associated with these pipes 1s undetermined Based on the <br /> age of the former Holiday Inn Hotels' construction, the material used for the underground pipe <br /> ' may have asbestos-containing materials (AGMs) An asbestos survey by a California certified <br /> asbestos consultant should be conducted on the piping prior to any disturbance or removal of the <br /> pipes on site <br /> The site Is listed on the SRNs regulatory agency database lists The site is also listed with <br /> California facility inventory database as a site with a hazardous incident reported The site is <br /> listed with those agencies because of an asbestos spill (<1 pound) which was cleaned up and <br /> transported to a waste facility under the direction of the EHS/PHD <br /> No acrid or pungent odors were noted on site No below ground storage tanks were noted on <br /> site No odors, pools of liquids were noted on the subject site No hazardous substance were <br /> noted on the subject site No pits, ponds, lagoons, stressed vegetation, wastewater, were noted <br /> on the subject site during the site reconnaissance <br /> ! There are several properties with documented soil and/or groundwater contamination which <br /> surround the subject site However, only ARCO appears to have the potential to impact the site <br /> For further information please refer to Section 4 1 1 of this report <br /> 20-1 129-301201711241 Page 14 of 16 <br /> ' OO 1997 Kleinteldcx Inc luly 14, 1997 <br />
