i <br /> The U.S.EPA, Region DC,under the authority of the Comprehensive Environmental <br /> Response,Compensation, and Liability Act of 1980 (CERCLA) and the Superfund <br /> Amendments and Reauthorization Act of 1986(SARA), has tasked Bechtel Environmental, <br /> Inc. to conduct a preliminary assessment at the property which occupies 507 112,595,and <br /> 599 East 11th Street.The purpose of the preliminary assessment was to assess the <br /> threat(s), if any, posed to public health, welfare,or the environment and to determine if <br /> further investigation under CERCLA/SARA is warranted. On September 22, 1993,further <br /> remedial site assessment under CERCLA was not required. Refer to Appendix C for <br /> additional information. <br /> Diamond NV_est 1 I th Street <br /> This site is located approximately 0.6 miles west from the subject property on West 11th <br /> Street. In a letter dated December 10, 1992,the RWQCB has determined no further <br /> investigation,remedial or removal action,or monitoring is required at the site.The last <br /> Groundwater Monitoring Report issued for the site is presented in Appendix C. <br /> Weld Wegt Beverly <br /> This site is located approximately 0.5 miles north from the subject property on West <br /> Beverly between Holly Drive and Parker Avenue. In August 1988, 1-500 gallon fuel tank <br /> was removed. SJCPHS required further assessment to determine the extent of <br /> contamination. However,no follow-up reports were found in the RWQCB files.The <br /> SJCPHS files contained the analytical results associated with the UST removal.The <br /> analytical results are presented in Appendix C. <br /> Ina Schggl District.51 Beverlyac <br /> This site is located north from the subject property on the northwest corner of East Beverly <br /> Place and Mae Avenue. In 1985, a UST was removed from the site, and soil and <br /> groundwater samples were collected. Samples were collected and analyzed for BTEX,and <br /> other hydrocarbons,and total lead. Analytical results reported concentration slightly above <br /> detection limit.However,no additional reports on follow-up work or clean-up <br /> requirements were found in the RWQCB or SJCPHS files. Information reviewed at the <br /> RWQCB and SJCPHS are presented in Appendix C. <br /> MsRgsal Service,99 Weg 6th S=et <br /> This site is located approximately 0.4-mile south from the subject property on West 6th <br /> Street between Central Avenue and North C Street.In 1985, 1-350 gallon and 1-550 gallon <br /> USTs were removed from the site. Soil samples were collected on May 14, 1990 and <br /> reported petroleum hydrocarbons contamination.No additional information on follow-up <br /> work was found in the RWQCB or SJCPHS files. Information reviewed at the RWQCB <br /> and SJCPHS files is presented in Appendix C. <br /> 12 <br />
