Charter Way
1 Stockton CA 95206
i
San Joaquin County Public Health Services Environmental Health DivisionkPHS/EHD)has reviewed the September
21, 1994 and the January 7, 1995 quarterly groundwater monitoring reports.submitted by William J.Hunter and
f associates for the above referenced site. c
i The report states that monitoring will continue on the Morita property until additional investigative work is
j conducted associated with the major soil and groundwater contamination problem at the nearby Darpetro site. This.
ll strategy was agreed upon during a meeting at the Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board
(CVRWQCB) offices on February 7, 1994.
i
At the present time PHS/EHD feels that since the Morita site is slightly 'upgradient from the Darpetro site that it
is unlikely that the contamination in MW-3 and MW-2 is due to the Darpetro site.
PHS/EHD will consider the Morita site to be in compliance with PHS/'EHD directives by continuing quarterly
monitoring activities. When and if the Darpetro plume is defined and Ilremediation of the plume begins at the
Darpetro site, the Morita site may be required to perform additional investigative work and will be required to
install some type of groundwater treatment system.
PHS/EHD estimates that the Darpetro plume will be adequately defined and a treatment system installed within the G
next two quarters.
Please call Steven Sasson at (209)468-3459 for further information.
iDonna Heran, REHS, Director
Environmental Health Division
:Y
Steven Sasson, Senior REHS Dian .
