INTRODUCTION AND SCOPE OF WORK <br /> In accordance with the request of Mr Dante John Nomellini of Nomellim Construction Co (NCC), <br />' Advanced GeoEnvironmental, Inc (AGE) has prepared this report of monitoring activities conducted <br /> in November 1995 at 1445 West Charter Way in Stockton, California The location of the site is <br /> illustrated on Figure 1 -Location Map A plan of the site is illustrated on Figure 2 - Site Plan <br />' Monitoring procedures were performed in accordance with San Joaquin County Public Health <br /> Services - Environmental Health Division (PHS-EBD) and Central Valley Regional Water Quality <br />' Control Board(CVRWQCB) guidelines for investigation of underground storage tank (UST) sites <br />' 2.0. BACKGROUND <br /> 21 SITE LOCATION <br /> The site is located approximately one-half mile west of Interstate 5 on West Charter Way (State <br /> Route 4) in Stockton, California Surrounding land use is light industrial/commercial A truck stop <br />' is located immediately east of the site, the property immediately west of the site is operated by <br /> Sunrise Sanitation <br /> 2 2 UNDERGROUND STORAGE TANK REMOVAL <br />' In August 1988, two 1,000-gallon underground storage tanks (USTs) were removed from the site <br /> The tanks were used for the storage of regular and unleaded gasoline Analytical results of soil <br />' samples collected from beneath the gasoline USTs indicated that an unauthorized release of <br /> hydrocarbons had occurred <br />' The tank area was re-excavated in November 1988 Soil was removed from the former UST area to <br /> a depth of 19 feet below surface grade (bsg) Soil samples were collected from the excavation and <br /> screened for`organic vapors using a photo-ionization detector (PID) Organic vapor readings <br /> r indicated that petroleum hydrocarbons were present at depths in excess of 19 feet bsg Therefore, the <br /> excavation was backfilled and a site assessment was performed The tank removal and excavation <br /> procedures were described by Kleinfelder in reports dated 22 September 1988 and 14 June 1989 <br /> r , <br /> r <br />
