Refer to PLATES 1. & 11 and prior reports for details-
REGIONAL GEOLOGIC & GEOMORPHIC PROVINCE.
Refer to PLATE III and prior reports
SOILS CLASSIFICATION:
Refer to PLATE IV for a copy of the soils profile map.
Additional details were given in earlier reports.
DEPTH TO GROUNDWATER:
During excavation work conducted in May, 1993, groundwater was
encountered at about 35' bgl. Groundwater was observed entering
the excavation during the work performed in December, 1994 It
was measured at 37' bgl, but conditions had not stablilized, and
the static level would probably be somewhat higher. This depth
agrees closely with levels measured in other wells in the area.
LOCATION OF NEARBY WELLS:
It was mentioned in the workplan submitted in November that there
are at least 19 groundwater monitoring wells in the area, some of
which are shown on PLATE V. The owners of the site immediately to
the east at 1045 W. Charter Way, (Nomellini Construction Co_ , )
have recently placed at least two (2) additional groundwater
monitoring wells in order to further define an extensive hydro-
carbon plume beneath the site. One of those wells has been
placed on the east side of the Miles & Nolet property; it' s exact
location is not yet available, but we will be provided the data
developed from that well when it is completed. That data will be
incorporated in subsequent reports prepared for this property_
BRIEF REVIEW OF PRIOR WORK DONE ON SITE:
September, 1992 - Septic tank serving shop building taken out of
service.
November, 1992 - Septic tank & leach lines uncovered Found to
Contain waste oil & petroleum products.
May, 1993 - Septic tank emptied & leach field removed_ Wooden
septic tank also removed. Excavation left open
Au st 1993 - Five (5) auger borings placed in area of leach
field to depths ranging from 32' bgl to 42' bgl; the presence of
petroleum hydrocarbon substances was detected in soil & ground-
water Three (3) hand-auger borings were placed in and adjacent
2
