1
TPHg (EPA 5030/8015M, ) & TEPH (EPA 3540/8015M )
' On September 16, 1996, Del-Tech Geotechnical Support Services
developed, purged, tested, & sampled the well Water depths were
' measured for the other 8 wells the same day so that the ground-
water gradient could be accurately determined A copy of that
work is included as EXHIBIT H
' The elevations and coordinates of the four new wells, (#6 , #7 ,
#8, & #9 , ) were determined by a licensed surveyor, PLATE IV is
adapted from that site survey A blueprint of the survey
' prepared by Seigfried & Associates is included as EXHIBIT J only
in the copy of this report submitted to the RWQCB staff
Additional copies can be obtained upon request
' DISCUSSION OF RESULTS OF WORK PERFORMED IN JULY & SEPTEMBER,
1996
TABLE XIV summarizes the results of soil samples taken from MW-6 ,
7, 8 , & 9 , laboratory sheets, QA/QC, and custody chains are
included as EXHIBITS D & G All soil samples from monitoring
wells 6 & 7 were below detection limits for BTEX & TPHg TEPH as
motor oil (6 0 mg/kg, ) & diesel (6 0 mg/kg, ) was present in MW-6
at 101611 , and motor oil at 5 0 mg/kg from the sample at 21 '
Soil samples from MW--7 at 11 ' measured motor oil at 12 0 mg/kg,
and 5 0 mg/kg at 16 ' Soil samples taken at 51611 , 11 ' , & 16 '
from MW-8, located dust west of the shop building and near the
removed septic system, were ND for BTEX & TPHg TEPH as motor oil
' was measured at 15 0 mg/kg from the sample at 111 ; the ones taken
at 516" and 16 ' were below detection limits However the sample
from 211 , which is close to the capillary fringe and in the
"smear zone, " measured benzene at 5 0 ug/kg, toluene at 60 0
ug/kg, xylene at 200 ug/kg, and TPHg at X10 0 mg/kg Ethylben-
zene was not detected TEPH as motor oil was measured at 2195
mg/kg from sample at 211 , and diesel at 80 0 mg/kg The heavier
components are consistent with previous samples taken after
removal of the septic tanks and leach lines The lighter
constituents, characteristic of gasoline, had been detected
during septic tank removal operations, and from some water
I` samples taken from MW-1 & 2 , and auger hole "A'" The source for
those compounds was not known at the time the previous work was
done
f Soil samples taken from MW-9, located about 45 ' west of the
Independent Trucking property at 1245 W Charter Way, on the site
occupied by JM Equipment Co. , revealed the presence of high
levels of gasoline in both soil and groundwater Benzene was
measured at 39 ug/kg at 51611 , 2 , 140 ug/kg at 101611 , 4, 430 ug/kg
8
