Containers <br /> larger than five gallons that previously held a hazardous material shall be marked with the date they were emptied <br /> and managed within one year of being emptied. Immediately mark and manage all empty containers per this <br /> section. <br /> This is a minor violation. <br /> 601 CCR 66262.34(a) Stored hazardous waste on site longer than 90 days without a permit or authorization. <br /> According to the shop manager, the last time hazardous waste was picked was on 12/15/2017. He said no <br /> hazardous waste had been picked up since then because the ID number(for a different business at the time)was <br /> expired. <br /> In the used oil storage area: <br /> -Twenty-three 55 gallon steel drums contained used oil <br /> In the rebar cutting area: <br /> -One 55 gallon steel drum contained used cutting oil <br /> -One 5 gallon bucket contained used cutting oil <br /> -One 5 gallon bucket contained oily debris <br /> Four rebar cutters were observed in the facility. The rebars hold two wastes,cutting oil and oily metal shavings. <br /> The used cutting oil is stored in a secondary containment basin at the bottom. The shop manager stated that he <br /> drains the machines of the waste oil before they get too full. Another employee said that the metal shavings <br /> saturated with used cutting oil had not been emptied in a while because it took a long time to fill the machine <br /> Container. <br /> One 30 gallon hopper contained used cutting oil mixed with metal fines <br /> Facilities who generate more than 1000 kg of hazardous waste per month may store waste on site up to 90 days. <br /> Immediately contact a licensed hazardous waste hauler to dispose of this waste under manifest and submit a copy <br /> of the manifest to the EHD. <br /> This is a Class II violation. <br /> FA0016204 PRO544178 SCO01 03/07/2019 <br /> EHD 22-02 Rev.09/22/16 Page 6 of 8 Large Quantity Hazardous Waste Generator OIR <br />
