Therefore, all direct push soil borings <br /> were grouted to the surface using neat Portland cement and bentonite mixture. Grouting was done <br /> in the presence of a SJCPHS Health Inspector. <br /> Subsurface Soil Conditions <br /> In general, soil consist of approximately 2 to 3 feet of organic-rich top soil which is composed of a <br /> moist(due to landscape irrigation), dark brown to black, silty clay(OL to CL). The top soil typically <br /> has grass rootlets and stems; it overlies approximately 3.5 feet to 4.0 feet of well compacted <br /> (engineered) fill composed of a tan, silty to sandy clay (CL). The engineered fill overlies a tan to <br /> brown clayey to silty fine sand (SC to SM) which probably formed the surface of the bottom of the <br /> oxidation ponds. <br /> Individual soil boring logs are in Attachment B. No obvious visual hydrocarbon contamination, <br /> odors, or other discolored soil was encountered in any of the soil borings. <br /> Sample Analytical Results <br /> The analyzed soil samples had no detectable total extractable petroleum hydrocarbons (TEPH) as <br /> kerosene, diesel, or motor oil. Volatile organic hydrocarbons (VOCs) were also reported below <br /> method detection limits (N.D.). <br /> Detected CCR Title 22 metals are fisted in Table 2 (Attachment Q. Antimony (Sb), beryllium(Be), <br /> cadmium(Cd), mercury(Hg), molybdenum(Mo), selenium (Se), silver(Ag), and thallium(Th)were <br /> below method detection limits or N.D. Arsenic(As)concentrations ranged from 1.7 ppm to 9.1 ppm, <br /> barium(Ba)concentrations ranged from 80 ppm to 140 ppm, chromium concentrations (Cr) ranged <br /> from 8.7 ppm to 30 ppm, cobalt concentrations ranged from 4.9 ppm to 11 ppm, copper (Cu) <br /> concentrations ranged from 10 ppm to 29 ppm, lead (Pb) concentrations ranged from 1.8 ppm to 5.9 <br /> ppm, nickel concentrations ranged from 11 ppm to 32 ppm, vanadium (V) concentrations ranged <br /> from 22ppm to 40 ppm, and zinc concentrations ranged from 23 ppm to 38 ppm. <br /> The detected metal concentrations are well below CCR Title 22 total threshold limit concentrations <br /> (TTLC)for hazardous wastes and below 10 times the soluble limit threshold concentration (STLC) <br /> for leachable metals (for a hazardous waste) as per CCR Title 22, Section 66261.24(a)(2).
