Corrective Action Plan Page
2 Analyses for total Lead will be discontinued if no detectable concentration is present in four consecutive
samples
3 After an initial test immediately following the start of groundwater pumping, the maximum frequency
of bioassay testing will be once per month and, after three additional, consecutive assays, the frequency of
testing the will then be reduced first to quarterly and after four successive quarterly sampling rounds to a
twice-yearly schedule, unless the results of any assay produce abnormally low survival rates, in which case
a monthly testing schedule will be re-iiutiated until three successive tests produce normal survival rates
1 Monitoring of Treatment System Parameters
To monitor the performance of the groundwater treatment system and provide a data base
that can be used to maintain optimal performance of the equipment, a log of equipment
operating parameters, flow-rates and pressure and temperature gauge readings will be
maintained and water samples will be periodically recovered from the following points (in
addition to the system discharge to the storm-water sewer) the water influent line to the
air stripper, the water effluent line from the air stripper (i a the influent line to the carbon
treatment units) and the mid-point between the pair of carbon treatment units (See Figure
11 for sampling-port locations )
These water samples will be recovered on the same schedule (t a once per week for four
consecutive weeks after groundwater pumping is started and monthly thereafter) and
managed in the same manner as the previously-described samples of the treated-water
discharge They will be analyzed for the following suite of analytes
Analyte Method of Analysis
Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons EPA Method 5030/8015M
(as Gasoline)
Benzene EPA Method 602
Toluene EPA Method 602
Ethyl Benzene EPA Method 602
Total Xylenes EPA Method 602
Lead (Total) 1,2 EPA Method 239 2
Notes
1 In sample from influent to air stripper only
2 Analyses for total lead will be discontinued if no detectable concentration is present in four consecutive
samples
