SHELTER- IN - PLACE <br /> OBJECTIVES <br /> • Notify all persons to shelter where they are <br /> • Prevent entry ofthreat(s) <br /> • Remain in contact with persons in the area of responsibility <br /> • Communicate with public safety agencies <br /> • Evacuate, if necessary, once the threat(s) has been cleared <br /> RESPONSIBILITIES <br /> Shelter-in-Place will be ordered by the Facility Threat Coordinator when it is safer for staff to secure <br /> themselves in their work areas rather than evacuate. <br /> Facility Threat Coordinator and assigned staff will be responsible for <br /> 4. Gathering Shelter-in-Place supplies <br /> 5. Securing facility entrances/exits. <br /> 6. Turning off central heating/cooling systems. <br /> 7. Sealing off doors/vents if hazardous materials are present. <br /> 8. Ensure that anyone in hallways or bathrooms moves into a centralized area. <br /> • <br /> FACILITY THREAT COORDINATOR <br /> 1. Notify Alerting Aides to notify Area Wardens. <br /> z. Report to Emergency Duty Station to communicate with Public Safety Agencies(Police, Fire, <br /> etc.). A lab management team member will also be there to relay any serious lab hazards. <br /> 3. Contact public safety agencies regarding nature of threat. <br /> 4. Inform PHS leadership of threat and actions taken. <br /> S. Attempt to secure doors of the facility to prevent outside physical threat. <br /> 6. Shut down HVAC system if the threat is a hazardous material. <br /> 7. Maintain contact with public safety agencies and Area Wardens regarding the nature of the <br /> threat and conditions. <br /> 8. Gather employee head-count information from Area Wardens. <br /> ALERTING AIDES <br /> 1. Notify Area Wardens to Shelter-in-Place. <br /> 9 SJCPHS Emergency Plan—January 2019 <br />
