i. Inform Area Wardens of nature of threat, location of FTC, and to report back to FTC once <br /> shelter is complete. <br /> AREA WARDEN <br /> 1. Gather Department staff and other persons into a central location within department area. <br /> Identify and count individuals present. <br /> 2. Attempt to secure doors of the facility to prevent outside physical threat. <br /> 3. Shut down HVAC system if the threat is a hazardous material. <br /> 4. Close and lock doors into department area. If hazardous materials are present, seal doors <br /> and vents with towels, cloth, or duct tape. <br /> 5. Attempt to secure doors of the facility to prevent outside physical threat. <br /> 6. Once sheltered, attempt to contact other groups by all possible means. <br /> 7. Advise groups to remain calm and implement shelter procedures in accordance with <br /> departmental plans. <br /> 8. Coordinate information between FTC and facility areas. <br /> 9. If unable to contact FTC, contact public safety agencies using the 9-9-1-1 system <br /> ALTERNATE WARDENS/ FACILITY THREAT COORDINATORS <br /> 1. Gather first aid kits and water, if available, and bring to location where staff has gathered <br /> 2. Close and lock and draw blinds of all windows in department area. <br /> 3. If hazardous materials are present, use automatic shut-off switch to shut down ventilation <br /> system. If system cannot be shut down automatically, block vents with towels or other items <br /> ALL-CLEAR PROCEDURES <br /> In the event Shelter-in-Place action was taken due to an act of violence,the All-Clear will be given only <br /> by on-scene law enforcement officers. <br /> In the event Shelter-in-Place action was taken due to a hazardous material incident,the All-Clear will be <br /> given by the Area Wardens who will make contact by telephone, or in person. <br /> 10 SJCPHS Emergency Plan—January 2019 <br />
