- I
Workplan- Soil Boring Investigation BSK No. 07-4-00230
1130 N. Main Street November 29, 1999
Manteca, California Page 2
Soil and Groundwater Sampling
BSK will observe the drilling of one soil boring at the location indicated on Figure 1. The boring
will be advanced to a maximum depth of 20 feet bgs using a Geoprobe direct-push drill rig. Soil
will be sampled commencing at 12 feet bgs, and then at 4-foot intervals thereafter, using a
Geoprobe soil sampling device. Samples will be field screened using an organic vapor meter.
The soil sample containers will be sealed with Teflon sheeting and plastic endcaps, labeled, and
stored in an ice chest containing blue ice. Soil samples to be retained for laboratory analysis will
be determined in the field.
One groundwater sample will be collected from the boring by exposing a screen in the lead
Geoprobe rod, and retrieving water from the boring with a Tubah®hand pump. The water
sample will be placed into appropriate sample containers, labeled, and stored in an ice chest
containing blue ice.
Laboratory Analysis
One groundwater sample and the soil samples retained for analysis will be submitted under
chain-of-custody protocol to BSK's State-certified analytical laboratory for analysis. Based on
the findings of laboratory analyses associated with the UST removal, analytical testing of the soil
and groundwater samples will be limited to fuel oxygenates, including MTBE,by EPA Method
8260.
Reporting
Upon completion of field work and laboratory analyses,BSK will provide a report containing a
site plan with locations of the soil boring, a boring log describing soil types and sample
locations, laboratory test results with chain-of-custody documentation, and conclusions and
recommendations regarding contamination beneath the site. The report will be developed as
outlined in Appendix A of the Tri-regional Board Staff Recommendations for Preliminary
Investigation and Evaluation of Underground Tank Sites. The report will be signed by a
California Registered Geologist or Engineer.
HEALTH AND SAFETY
Field work will be conducted in accordance with Level D Personnel Protection. Site health &
safety is addressed in detail in the attached Site Specific Health & Safety Plan, Jiffy Lube, 1130
N. Main Street Manteca, California.
