The Report describes the drilling, well construction, and groundwater
sampling of one deep monitoring well (MW -1D), and the quarterly groundwater sampling of shallow
monitoring wells in the aquifer A -zone. The MW -11) was screened in the B -zone aquifer, between 85
and 100 feet below ground surface (bgs) and below a clay aquitard (71.5 to 76.5 bgs). Depth to
groundwater across the site varies from 51 to 52 feet below ground surface, with a slight (0.012 ft/ft)
upward gradient from the B -zone to the A -zone. No soil or grab groundwater samples were collected
during construction of MW -11).
After purging MW -1D, groundwater samples were analyzed for Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons, as diesel
(TPH-d) and as gasoline (TPH-g), benzene-toluene-ethylbenzene-xylenes (BTEX), oxygenates, and
dissolved lead. All MW -1D analytical results were non -detect.
The Report concludes that the previous deep boring (DB 1), which detected TPH-d, TPH-g, BTEX, and
oxygenates in grab soil and groundwater samples collected in January 2001, were the result of cross
contamination in the open borehole.
The Report also includes quarterly groundwater monitoring and analysis of select shallow wells, which
detected TPH-d (360 µg/L) and TPH-g (1,800 µg/L). Monitoring well MW -8 was not sampled, due to a
thin sheen of floating free product.
Comments
1.
