Former Stefaano's Gas Station Page 2.
1419 East Charter Way March 18,2008
Stockton, California 95205
sparge points both will be capable of injecting approximately 0.95 pounds of ozone into the
subsurface per day, the EHD presented the following concerns: i
0 How effective is the current on-going ES II system at remediating the hydrocarbon
contamination found at this site? Ozone injections have been intermittent since January
2006; however, during this time there have.been no notable improvements associated
with concentrations of contaminants detected in groundwater collected each quarter
through July 2007, based on the most current quarterly report dated December 4, 2007.
• Will the local effectiveness of the three individual spargers of the current ES II system
be degraded by diverting approximately half of the ozone to the three newly proposed
sparge points; or will the three newly proposed sparge points best be served.by omitting
the currently installed sparge.points? In other, words, will this modification increase,
decrease, or have a neutral influence on-the current system effectiveness?
i
i
AGE responded by email ,on March 3, 2008, providing the EHD with soil boring logs for
boreholes B-2, B-3, OZ1, OZ2, and OZ3 and reiterating what was proposed in Work Plan
Addendum, .dated November 19, 2007. Unfortunately, the information does not address the
concerns presented above by the EHD. Please provide the EHD with answers supported.by
technical justification by April 30, 2008, that will support expanding the current ozone sparge
system.
If you have any questions, please contact Vicki McCartney, Senior Registered Environmental
Health Specialist, at (209) 468-9852 or by email at vmccartney@sjcehd.com.
Sincerely,
Victoria L.
