22 Sensitive Receptor Survey <br /> To evaluate if gasoline hydrocarbons in soil and groundwater beneath the site threaten any <br /> nearby sensitive receptors, Ramage Environmental surveyed potential sensitive receptors within <br /> 2,000-feet of the site (site vicinity) The survey included reviewing water well completion reports at <br /> the California Department of Water Resources (DWR), contacting the local water purveyors, and <br />' touring the site vicinity <br /> For the site vicinity, only one water well completion reports was on file at DWR Three additional <br /> well completion reports were identified immediately outside of the 2,000-foot site vicinity radius <br /> Appendix A includes a base map showing the locations of all four identified wells, a table <br />' summarizing any well construction data, and copies of the available well completion reports <br /> The nearest water supply well (approximately 800 feet west of the site) is the California Water <br /> Service Company Well #50, located on the south side of Jackson Street, approximately 300 feet <br /> west of Airport Way According to Mr Eric Mar of the California Water Service Company, this well <br /> has been out of service for several years, but remains open for potential future use Two of the <br /> wells outside of the 2,000-foot radius are also California Water Service Company wells#19 and <br /> #41 Well #19 is an active well, located approximately 2,400 feet northeast of the site Well #41 <br /> was plugged in 1983 The nearest active water well is the San Joaquin County Fairgrounds well <br /> located near the center of the horse racetrack, approximately 2,100 feet southeast of the site <br /> Reconnaissance of the site vicinity included a walking tour of the area The site vicinity is <br /> bisected by East Charter Way South of East Charter Way is the county fairgrounds and other <br /> light commercial properties North of East Charter Way, the site vicinity includes light commercial <br /> and industrial properties and residential dwellings The Union Pacific Railroad occupies the west <br /> side of the site vicinity No schools, hospitals, day care centers or other possible sensitive <br /> receptors were observed in the site vicinity The former Luther Burbank Elementary School, <br /> located approximately 1,000-feet west of the site, now operates as the Islamic Center of Stockton <br /> The nearest school to the site now appears to be the Garfield Elementary School, approximately <br /> 3,000-feet south of the site <br /> The nearest surface water body to the site is the Mormon Slough, which crosses the site vicinity <br /> approximately 1,000 feet north of the site Topographically, this unlined "drainage ditch" moves <br />' from east to west across the northern part of the site vicinity In late December 2001, standing <br /> water was observed in the slough throughout the site vicinity The slough probably serves as a <br /> source of groundwater recharge <br /> 9 <br />
