J. H. KLEINFELDER & ASSOCIATES
File No. E-2688-1
June 12, 1985
Page Two
Eleven soil samples were obtained from throughout the boring. These
samples were obtained using a Modified California Sampler using brass sleeves.
The sleeves containing the soil samples were removed from the sampler, aluminum
foil was placed over both ends of the sleeve and the sleeve was capped using a
tight fitting plastic cap. The samples were then stored in a cold atmosphere
until delivery to the analytical laboratory. The soil samples were then deli-
vered by our personnel to Canonie Engineers of Stockton for hydrocarbon content
analysis. The results of these analyses are attached to this report along with
a description of the testing procedure.
Several days after the installation of the monitoring well, personnel from
our firm traveled to the subject site to obtain water samples from the moni-
toring well. Samples were obtained using a 1 -inch diameter bailer with a bottom
ball check valve. The bailer was lowered into the well to the existing water
level. Liquid flowed into the bottom of the bailer through the ball check
Ave. As the bailer was withdrawn, the ball check closed allowing a vertical
column of the liquid to be obtained. Two samples were taken from the well in a
static condition. The well was then excavated by approximately five well volu-
mes and two additional samples were obtained. As the samples were obtained they
were placed in appropriate glass sample containers that were furnished by the
analytical laboratory. The samples were then stored in a cold atmosphere for
delivery to the previously mentioned laboratory. The results of the analyses
are pending the completion of the tests. At the time of our water sampling„ it
was noted that approximately 4 to 6 inches of free product was found within the
monitoring well.
The finalization of the well permit application will be made to the county
showing soil conditions encountered, monitoring well location and monitoring
well construction. A copy of this information will be forwarded to you when the
final well permit is granted.
Information obtained in this report or from the testing of soil and water
samples from this site will be held confidential. Any release of this data will
not be done prior to your written approval.
It was a pleasure working with you on this project and if you have any
questions or require additional information, please contact us.
R pectfully submitted,
L INF L ER & ASSOCIATES
John Large
Drilli g Divisi n Manager
JSL:rsd
Enclosures
UV
