R5-2002-083 1,
oxyCHEM STOCKTON, SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY
On 5 August 2002, we provided Miller Springs Remediation Management a draft Monitoring and
Reporting Program for groundwater monitoring at the former Occidental Chemical Company
facility at 1904 Charter Way in Stockton. hi its 20 August comment letter, your consultant,
Geomatrix Consultants, Inc., requests that analyses for triazine compounds continue to be
performed with EPA Method 8141, instead of EPA Method 619 as listed in the draft. We concur
with this request, and have corrected the Groundwater Monitoring Table. We also changed the
EPA methods for Organophosphorcius pesticides and chlorinated herbicides from 8140 and 8150
to 8141 and 8151 respectively, reflecting current methodologies.
The enclosed Monitoring and Reporting Program No. R5-2002-0831 is otherwise identical to the
draft and is now in effect. Accordingly, the next semi-annual groundwater monitoring event
shall occur this quarter(July— September),with the corresponding monitoring report due by
1 November 2002. If you have any questions, you may contact Amy Terrell at (916) 255-3080.
N L Ujwu
WENDY L.
