a <br /> . 20 January 2003 <br /> AGE-NC Project No 95-0109 <br /> Page 2 of 8 <br /> were supplied by Cascade Drilling, Inc Auger returns generated by drilling were properly <br /> containerized in 5 5-gallon Department of Transportation(DOT)-approved drums and stored on-site <br /> Soil samples were collected ahead of the drill bit using a California-modified split-spoon sampler <br /> loaded with three pre-cleaned 2-inch by 6-inch brass sleeves Soil samples were collected at between <br /> 70 feet and 80 feet bsg from pilot boring MW-15 using a 140-pound hammer to advance the sampler <br /> Soil samples collected from MW-15 were used to confirm lithologic data from the December 2001 <br /> Cone Penetrometer Testing(CPT)investigation None of the soil samples collected were submitted <br /> for laboratory analysis <br /> 212 Logging <br /> Soil was extruded from the sleeves in the sampler and were screened for the presence of organic <br /> vapor using an organic vapor meter(OVM)equipped with a photo-ionization detector(PID Thermo <br /> Environmental 580A, 10 0 eV,calibrated to isobutylene), and the OVM readings were recorded on <br /> a boring log The soil was then visually described on the boring log in accordance with the Unified <br /> • Soil Classification System (see Appendix A) <br /> 2 13 Well Completion <br /> Pilot bonngs MW-15 through MW-19 were completed as ground water monitoring wells using <br /> two-inch diameter PVC casing with 0 020-inch slotted screen The screen intervals were installed <br /> from approximately 50 feet to 70 feet bsg in boring MW-16,75 feet to 80 feet bsg in borings MW-15 <br /> and MW-19, 110 feet to 120 feet bsg in boring MW-17 and 112 feet to 117 feet bsg in boring <br /> MW-18 The filter packs (No 3 Lonestar sand) were installed from the bottom of each boring to <br /> approximately two feet above each screened interval, and a nominal 3-foot bentonite plug was <br /> installed above the filter packs and hydrated The wells were then grouted to near the surface with <br /> portland cement Water-tight,traffic-rated well boxes were subsequently installed over the wells As- <br /> built well diagrams are depicted on the boring logs in Appendix A <br /> 2 14 Well Development <br /> On 27 December 2002,wells MW-15 through MW-19 were developed utilizing a Watera Hydrolifl <br /> Pump Ground water was purged from each well until the water was visually sediment free,between <br /> 25 and 35 gallons of water were removed from MW-15, MW-16 and MW-19 and approximately <br /> 75 gallons from wells MW-17 and MW-18 Purged ground water was containerized in properly <br /> Advanced GcoEnvlronmentel,Inc <br />
