This <br /> indicates a gradient of approximately 0.47 feet per 100 feet ( 25 <br /> feet per mile) and implies ground water flow toward the south <br /> southwest. <br /> The calculated ground water gradient indicates that monitoring <br /> well MW-3 is located significantly to the east of directly up <br /> gradient from the tank excavation. The presence of ground water <br /> contamination in MW-1 and MW-2, and the lack of discernable <br /> contamination in MW-3 are consistant with ground water flow to <br /> the south southwest, and suggests that the contamination found in <br /> the ground water is sourced from on site.
