A Soil
Gas Survey and - Performanc'e :Test.were conducted ''by `EVAX on 8 August 1989.
Hydrocarbon concentration as. vapor was recorded at -the. five wells used in
the subsurface investigation. The. results of the Performance Test
indicated that the' soil conditions were amenable - to vapor extraction.
The ' vapor extraction system installation was. compl'eted ; in August 1989.
Operation began on 11, October_ 1989. The initial infl-uent concentration
of total hydrocarbon concentration as vapor (TVH) . was 22,500 parts per
million (ppm) or :85 ,pounds : per:-. day.' The combustion unit `operated
continuously for 29 days, . 24 hours per day. ; A summary of the monitoring.
data is enclosed A final reading was taken at the site on 8 November
1989. Influent concentration ,was 2,500 ppm.,or 23.7 ,pounds per day. The
combustion unit was removed on `.8-November ;1989. Approximately. 1,700
pounds of hydrocarbons, were .extracted-- and .ab.ated-during the remediation
project.
f SYSTEM .EQUIPMENT
The system equipment includes an internal combustion engine and pump
unit, collectively referred ' to as the combustor ; unit, and an
