r . 7 •
Remediation Piping Bid Request
ARCO Station No. 6100
25775 South Patterson Pass Road
Tracy, California
INTRODUCTION
Atlantic Richfield Company(ARCO) is requesting bids for the installation of remediation piping
to be completed during the present upgrade construction at ARCO station #6100. Delta
Environmental Consultants, Inc. (Delta) is coordinating this work for ARCO. The contractor
will perform all activities associated with the following scope of work and will work directly for
ARCO. Delta will be responsible for soil sampling and provide oversight of construction
activities related to environmental work.
SCOPE OF WORK
Contractor shall fiunish all necessary labor, material, equipment, permits, and inspections to
perform the following work at the above location. All work is to be performed in accordance
with the scope of work, site plan, and all applicable sections of ARCO specifications.
General Conditions
A. The Contractor will be trenching and installing PVC piping to existing monitoring wells
and vapor wells for the purpose of later use for site remediation. The location of the
wells and termination points are presented on Figure 1. Trenching details and vault
details are presented on Figures 2 and 3. In general, the piping consists of 1) one 2-inch
diameter schedule 40 PVC pipe with standard fittings for all directional changes required
from the well to the termination point which will used for vapor extraction (this piping
shall be installed to minim-dze any dips and with a slight slope back to the well), 2) one
2-inch diameter PVC line that will have electrical type sweeps at all directional change
locations and will be used in the future as a conduit for air or electrical lines (these lines
will be equipped with a pull string), and 3) one 1 inch diameter schedule 40 PVC pipe to
be used for the discharge of water from the selected wells. Piping 1) and 3) will require a
pressure test as noted on Figure. 2. A portion of this piping will be installed in the right-
of-way area for Patterson Pass Road. ARCO will obtain the required encroachment
permit from San Joaquin County.
B. The nominal depth of the trenching will be 36 inches. The width of the trench will vary
depending on the number of pipes to be bundled in the same trench as denoted on
Figures 2 and 3. The trench will have an approximate 3 inch sand layer below the piping
and an additional 3 inches of sand above the piping. Locator tape shall be placed in the
trench. The remainder of the trench is to be filled with pea gravel allowing for the
installation of 4 inches of asphalt to match surrounding grade. In those areas such as the
pump islands and tank pit the ARCO construction requirements will be followed.
