' Winston#120 <br /> Lodi,CA <br /> ' August 8,2002 <br /> 4.0 SITE RECONNAISSANCE <br /> ' 4.1 UNDERGROUND STORAGE TANKS <br /> No evidence of current or past use of underground storage tanks(USTs)was observed(i.e.,no vent pipes, <br /> ' pavement patchwork,pump islands,or fill ports)at the Site or reported to SECOR through records reviews <br /> and interviews. <br /> ' 4.2 ABOVE GROUND STORAGE TANKS <br /> One approximately 200-gallon steel aboveground storage tank(AST)was observed at the Site. The AST was <br /> being used for storage of new motor oil and was located inside the service area on the north wall of the <br /> building. The AST appeared in disrepair,however there were no obvious leaks in the AST and only a small <br /> amount of staining on the concrete floor was observed. <br /> ' 4.3 HAZARDOUS MATERIALS AND STORAGE CONTAINERS <br /> 4.3.1 Batteries <br /> ' Approximately 15 new batteries were being stored in the service garage near the showroom <br /> entrance. No used batteries were observed stored on the Site. <br /> ' 4.3.2 Air Compressors <br /> Three air compressors were noted at the Site. The air compressors are located in the southwest <br /> comer of the storage area. There appeared to be minor amounts of oily grime on the concrete floor <br /> ' associated with two of the three units;however,no other staining was noted in the area of the air <br /> compressor. <br /> ' 4.3.3 Parts Washers <br /> One parts washer was observed at the Site. The parts washer was located in the storage area near the <br /> air compressors in the southwest comer of the service area. No staining or environmental issues <br /> were observed in the area of the parts washer. <br /> ' 4.3.4 New Oil Storage <br /> New oil storage was contained within an AST located in the service area along the north side of <br /> ' the building. There was also individual one quart containers packaged for retail sale stored on <br /> shelves in the northeast corner of the service area. There was no significant staining in the new oil <br /> storage area. <br /> ' 4.3.5 Used OR Storage <br /> Used oil was stored in four 55-gallon drums placed in secondary containment units located along the <br /> ' north wall of the service area pending removal by Asbury Environmental Services.Minor staining of <br /> the concrete floor around the drums was noted. No environmental issues were noted in the area of <br /> the storage drums. <br /> t4.3.6 New Antifreeze Storage <br /> New antifreeze in one-gallon containers was stored on shelves in the storage area along the east side <br /> ' of the building. No bulk antifreeze was stored at the Site. <br /> 4.3.7 Used Antifreeze Storage <br /> ' Used antifreeze is stored in one-gallon containers next to the used motor oil in the south end of the <br /> storage area.Winston employees stated that they typically did not do much work requiring antifreeze <br /> ' 0037 gy store 120 phase 2 reviewedl.doc SECOR International Incorporated <br /> 4 <br />
