CECCIIIM, CECCHIM,AND GIOVANNOM,FUF£ING ISLAND
4. Ai lllL.LD ®IBSIiR V'A 11 EONS
On May 16, 1995, ESE observed that the well box for well UST-1 had broken again and was in
need of repair The remaining ground water monitoring wells appeared in good condition ESE
noted that the Anterior of well UST-1 was clean and free of surface leakage
4.2 SOITIL RNDINGS
The results of soil samples collected for laboratory analysis during exploratory drilling for the
monitoring wells are described on Table 1 Hydrocarbon constituents were non-detect in most
soil samples with the exception of findings of low levels of benzene in UST-4 between the depths
of 25 feet bgs and 45 feet bgs (see Table 1, boring UST 4) Benzene was reported to be 0 038
mg/Kg at 25 feet bgs and 0 033 mg/Kg at 30 feet bgs The highest concentration of benzene was
0 110 mg/Kg at a depth of 35 feet bgs The benzene concentration decreased to 0 036 mg/Kg at
40 feet bgs and 0 007 mg/Kg at 45 feet bgs Non-detect levels were reported for benzene below
45 feet
' 4.3 GROUND WAVIER MONETOI18IINO
On May 16, 1995, ground water levels in wells SI-1, SI-2, SI-3, and UST-1 were approximately
67 feet below the top of casing and within the screened interval No free product was observed in
any of the wells Table 2 tabulates water level depth measurements and water level elevations
calculations for these wells Figure 3 illustrates ground water elevation data in map view
The ground water flow direction beneath the site at the time of measurement appears to be
generally to the north to northeast over the entire site and locally towards UST-1, near the fueling
island The calculated ground water gradient over the site was approximately 0 004 foot/foot
The gradient appears flatter in the northern portion of the site The difference in gradient is
likely due to pumping influences of the onsite wells
Analytical results for well UST-1 through UST-4 are listed on Table 3 - Analytical Results of
Ground Water Samples The certified analytical reports are presented in (Appendix Q On May
16, 1995, ground water from UST-1 was reported to contain only TPH-D at a concentration of
F 1692540012QM95 RPT 5 Environmental Science&Engfneenng,Inc
