Richard Damilano -2 - 16 July 2004
Effluent Monitorine
The Discharger requests the effluent samples be collected from the applied water. Staff agrees that that
data would be useful, however, too much potential for error exists if such sampling were allowed. In
addition, it would be impossible to determine the treatment effectiveness of the treatment system.
Therefore, the samples shall be collected as described in the draft Revised MRP.
The request to reduce pH sampling frequency from weekly to monthly is not acceptable. Staff
recognizes the pH neutralization will stabilize the pH reading, however, considering daily monitoring of
pH is required for the influent, weekly monitoring of pH in the effluent is not considered burdensome
and information on the pH neutralization effectiveness presently is lacking. Again, pH measurements
may be taken with a hand-held meter.
Stormwater Pond Monitorine
The text will be changed from wastewater to stormwater. Changing the sampling frequency of dissolved
oxygen to monthly is acceptable.
Enclosed is the final Revised MRP No. 98-077. The Revised MRP is effective immediately; therefore
the August 2004 monthly monitoring reports, and subsequent reports shall comply with the Revised
MRP.
Please telephone Tim O'Brien at (916) 464-4616 if you have any questions regarding the revised MRP.
WUA4
WENDY WYELS, Chief
Waste Discharge to Land Unit
enc: Revised MRP
cc w/enc: Mike Anderson,Nolte Associates, Sacramento
cc w/o enc: Mike Huggins, San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department, Stockton
W:=Wi.T bpeidmvokw Fld&M it 14 MYU.rc
