I
April 26, 1988 AGS Job No. 2005-P
Delta Truck Sales, Stockton, California
ground-water surface. The remainder of the well will consist of
2-inch blank PVC casing.
An appropriate sorted sand filter (0. 02- to 0. 16-inch grain size)
will be placed into the annular space of the well opposite the
slotted interval through the hollow stem of the auger to a point
i
approximately 2 feet above the slotted interval. A 1- to 2-foot
thick plug of bentonite pellets will be placed at the top of the
sand pack. Approximately two gallons of deionized water will be
added to hydrate the bentonite pellets for at least 30 minutes.
The remaining annulus will then be filled to just below surface
grade with a bentonite-cement slurry. Sand, bentonite, and
grouting slurry will be placed using a tremie pipe to avoid
bridging the well. Schematic diagrams of the proposed well
z construction are shown in Plates P-4 and P-5. This well design
will be sufficient for filtering fine- to medium-grained sand
from the formation using standard materials.
The well head will be fitted with a locking steel cage and a cast
aluminum utility box set slightly above grade. The utility box
is equipped with a watertight seal. This combination will reduce
the likelihood of surface water entering the well and of
unauthorized disturbance.
