Excavation was performed down to 18 feet .
Non-detect levels of contamination was reached in both north
and south trench ends . The east/west trenches still show
high contaminant levels . The gravel layer below the tank
was contaminated with diesel .
COE to contract for soil borings and a monitoring well .
RWQCB and DTSC will review the plans . COE proposes
bioremediation for contaminated soil , and soil to be left in
place . ., RWQCB will get back with COE on bioremediation of
the excavated soil . International Technology Corporation
(ITC) will be remediating the diesel contaminated soil and
COE is going to try and include the metals contaminated
soils from the Subsistence Warehouse in the contract . The
EPA stated this was 'okay' provided the metals portion is
covered under a separate report .
Well Monitoring Program
i QM Sampling #2 - September 1991
QM Report #2 - November 1991
QM Sampling #3 - December 1991
QM Report #3 - February 1992 (Decision point ; SOW and
establish new contract)
_ QM Sampling #4 - March 1992
QM Report #4 - May 1992
QM #1 , Year 2 - June 1992
Draft Annual Report - July 1992 (Recommendations on what to
do ; how to continue to
sample)
RWQCB would like to see the data collected and have no
program break . Decision will be made in the third report as to
what route to take .
Subsistence Warehouse
A number of sites were excavated . Forty-nine drums were dug
up.
