CoE said the concept is to prevent the groundwater <br /> contaminants from migrating further and attenuate those <br /> concentrations by pumping and operating to the cleanup <br /> objectives defined in the ROD. <br /> Comprehensive Site Wide Remedial Investigation/Feasibility Study <br /> (RI/FS ) : <br /> DDRW is currently investigating SWMUs . They consist of metals, <br /> oils , and UST sites . These items requiring further <br /> investigation will fall under a separate RI/FS - the <br /> Comprehensive Site Wide RI/FS. <br /> Thus far Montgomery Watson (MW) , CoE 's contractor, has completed <br /> the first phase of the Site Wide investigation. MW prepared the <br /> Draft Preliminary Site Characterization Report, dated December <br /> 1993 , and it is currently being revised. MW will begin the <br /> second phase ( field work) in late 1994 . After the second phase <br /> is completed, MW is expecting enough data to perform a Baseline <br /> Risk Assessment and complete the RI work. <br /> DDRW has had geophysics , soil samples , soil borings , and <br /> trenching performed in order to try and identify exactly where <br /> the burn pits , oils, and USTs are located. <br /> DDRW stated that any Technical Review Committee member may <br /> receive copies of these reports by contacting Ms . Debbie Smith, <br /> (209 ) 982-2085 . <br /> Well Monitoring Program Update: <br /> MW is conducting a Well Monitoring Program at DDRW Tracy. They <br /> monitor over 100 wells . DDRW also monitors six private wells in <br /> the area. DDRW has impacted one offsite well and monitors five <br /> other wells that are in the path of the plume. DDRW monitors <br /> these wells closely on a quarterly basis . <br /> DDRW' s Well Monitoring Program is designed to quarterly track <br /> the movement of groundwater contaminants . There are 100 <br /> monitoring wells at various depths at locations where <br /> contamination is suspected. MW has monitored these wells for 11 <br /> consecutive quarters and has a good data base of information. <br /> This information is plotted on a quarterly basis . An annual <br /> report is developed which addresses evaluation of the data and <br /> recommends future sampling efforts . The next annual report is <br /> due April 1994 . DDRW will solicit comments on the annual report <br /> from the regulatory agencies and ensure that their particular <br /> concerns are met and incorporated. <br /> 2 <br />
