10. Table 5.3-3: The table does not show data for EW033AU, although this
well is shown on Figure 5.3-7. For clarity, please revise the Report to
resolve this discrepancy.
11. Table 5.4-1: The table shows a comparison between design flow rates for
the two treatment systems and actual flow rates. However, the Report
does not indicate why the actual flow rates are 77% and 388,
respectively, lower than the design flow rates. For clarity, please
revise the Report to include an explanation for why the actual flow
rates are so much lower than the design flow rates.
12. Table 5.4-4: The table indicates that the stripping tower packing
material for both treatment plants is unknown. Since the packing
material is an essential component of the air stripper design, please
revise the Report to provide the type of packing material.
13. Figure 5.3-1: The figure indicates that EW037AU was operational during
3Q99, however, according to Section 5.3.3.7 (Page 5-3) , "EW037AU is not
operational and should remain shutdown". Therefore, please revise the
figure to indicate that EW037AU did not operate during 3Q99.
14 . Figure 5.3-7: The figure indicates that only one extraction well was
operating during all four quarters (treatment plant #1) . It is unclear,
why the extraction wells were not operating year-round. For clarity,
please provide the rationale for not continuously operating all
extraction wells or indicate on the figure that no data is provided
because of operation and maintenance issues, if appropriate.
15. Tables 6.4-1 and 6.4-2: Discrepancies between the two tables were
observed for the following wells: EW005AUA, EW010AU, EW030C, EW035AU,
EW037AU, EW040AU through EW044AU, LM003AA, LM015AA, LM017AA, LM019A,
LM25AUA, LM29B, LM036A, LM050A, LM052D, LM053A, LM062AU, LM066A, LM079B,
LM092CC, LM093AU, LM097AU, LM129A, LM166AU, LM168AU, LM174AU, PW004, and
WSWO07 through WSW009.
In addition, no explanation was provided as to why no PCB sampling is
proposed at LM116A through LM118A and why no metals sampling is proposed
at LM120A in 2000.
Furthermore, no information is provided as to what the sampling
frequency will be once LM150 through LM153 are installed.
Lastly, the proposed sampling frequency for LM019A in 2000 is "none"
because of a broken casing. However the Report does not indicate, what
sampling frequency will be established once the broken casing has been
repaired.
5
