I have reviewed your Return to Compliance Certification. Please see the following notes:
• HMBP Official Inspection Report:
✓ Record of training (Viol #11): A photo of a physical copy of the employee training record with dates of
training, training discussion points, and employee names was observed posted on a bulletin board in the
milk barn. This is corrected and violation closed.
• Hazardous Waste Official Inspection Report:
✓ I received the statement and photos showing R&S Dairy no longer has hazardous waste on site and does
not plan to generate any hazardous waste. For your records, it is a good idea also to keep a copy of with the
date of transport, quantity of used oil transported, your name and address, name and address of the
receiving facility, and the EPA ID number of the receiving facility. R&S Dairy no longer requires a hazardous
waste permit and violations are thereby closed.
Info on Transporting Used Oil
Self-Transport: Any generator of used oil is allowed to self-transport, in a vehicle under the control of the
generator, up to 55 gallons of used oil in containers of not greater than 55-gallon capacity to a used oil
collection facility operating pursuant to HSC section 25250.11. No hazardous waste manifest is required nor
do you need to be a registered hazardous waste transporter. The statute gives the upper limit of the amount
of used oil that may be accepted by a used oil collection facility. Since handling 55 gallon drums requires
special equipment, many used oil collection facilities will not accept more than 20 gallons. Therefore the
generator must first call the collection facility and ensure the facility can accept more than 20 gallons of
used oil.
2
