HOLT PIPELINE LEAK SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY Prior to construction, plans and specifications for ground water monitoring and/or extraction wells shall be submitted to Board staff for review and approval. After construction, new wells are to be sampled and analyzed for the constituents below and added to the monitoring program. GROUND WATER MONITORING There are 12 ground water monitoring wells and three ground water extraction wells as shown in Figure 1. Monitoring wells with free phase petroleum product or visible sheen shall be monitored for product thickness and depth to ground water only. Monitoring wells • which have a free product thickness greater than 0.1 foot will be hand-bailed every other week until the free product thickness is less than 0.1 foot. The ground water monitoring program for the 12 monitoring wells, and any additional monitoring wells installed subsequently except for wells containing free phase petroleum product or visible sheen, shall include the following: Sampling Constituents Units Type of Sample Frequency Depth to ground Feet ---- Quarterly water Benzene µg/1 Grab Quarterly Toluene µg/1 Grab Quarterly Ethylbenzene µg/1 Grab Quarterly Xylene µg/1 Grab Quarterly TPH as diesel µg/1 Grab Quarterly TPH as gasoline It g/1 Grab Quarterly Total Lead' µg/1 Grab Quarterly ' From wells which have not been monitored for total lead. If total lead is detected, the Discharger shall perform verification sampling within 30 days of submittal of the monitoring report. If the presence of total lead is not confirmed, no further test . is required. If pollution is verified, the Discharger shall continue monitoring for total lead quarterly.
