Monitoring
Vapor phase monitoring of the work site will be
continuously performed using a combustible gas monitor.
Prior to work each day a complete site survey will be made
to determine if flammable vapors are present. If flammable
vapors are detected immediate remedial actions will be
undertaken to contain vapors at the source.
The standard OHM medical monitoring procedures will be
used.
. 6 General Safety
The site supervisor serves as the company safety
officer at the site and ensures that all safety procedures
are followed.
F4
Prior to each work day, a safety meeting will be held
with all personnel. The work for the day will be outlined
together with applicable safety considerations. Additionally, a
different safety topic shall be discussed each day such as use of
respirators, location of safety equipment, proper
decontamination, emergency procedures, laboratory safety,
electrical hazards, defensive driving, proper sampling
techniques, and the like.
Eating, drinking, and smoking will only be permitted in
posted areas. No such activities will be permitted in the
contamination reduction zones or exclusion zones.
3 .7 Emergency Equipment
Provisions will be made for fire protection, fire
response, first aid, chemical splash, a major medical
emergency, and release of toxic material to the atmosphere.
Note that these events are not expected but precautions must
be taken.
OHM
