Ali stated he spoke with Joe Neely, a consultant for Shell, and was advised that the
contractor probably would not be able to pump at the rate as planned. We may have to
modify the depth of the dewatering wells and might even dewater the trench locally.
Shawn asked if there would be any water going into the storm drain during Kleinfelder's
testing process.
Ali answered that contractor will use Bentonite chips to backfill and plug the test holes.
This procedure will not result in any water spilling out of the test hole and was approved
by Mike I. Mike I said he would be there to make sure any spillage is properly
contained.
2. Safety
Ali said he received a copy of the Viking Drillers Inc. accident report and wanted to
know what steps were being taken in regards to preventing similar accidents
Marc Bridges said a full time flagger has been assigned and they purchased a "Keep
Right' sign and delineators. There will be a 'Road Construction Ahead" sign, a "Detour
Ahead" sign and then the "Keep Right' signs.
Peg Barnett asked for a copy of the accident report and asked if there had been a
safety meeting to follow up the incident. She asked for a report of that meeting and a
copy of the traffic control plan.
Reed Burson gave her a copy of the report and the City already has the other
information requested.
3. Permit Status
The project is waiting for Kleinfelder to obtain the encroachment permit. SJ
Environmental Health cannot issue their permit for the testing work until the
encroachment permit has been obtained.
Mike I stated he can issue the Environmental Health permit based on a fax of the
encroachment permit or at least Public Works calling him with the number of the
encroachment permit. It should be a same-day process.
Ali will get together with Kleinfelder after the meeting and go to County Public Works to
get the permits. Once the permits are obtained, he will contact Marc B to advise him as
to the work schedule. Weekend work depends on the permits.
Dean G. will let Ali know if there is anything else Kleinfelder needs to do to obtain the
encroachment permit.
