CAMS RIA
upstream of, the pump station Under normal operational practices, the pump station is
periodically turned on to pump the water into the Calaveras River, which is located adjacent to
the pump station At the time of the spill the pump station was not in operation After the spill
occurred, the pump station was secured so that the pumps could not turn on After all of the
storm drain inspections had been conducted and the laboratory testing had been completed it
seemed apparent that none of the spilled water traveled very far in the storm drain And since the
pump station had been shut off, none of the water from the storm drain was ever discharged into
the Calaveras River
Volume Released to Receivinq Water
Same comments as above
Receiving Water Impact
Same comments as above
Remediation
In addition to the clean up described in the OMI report, Cambna made modifications to the
remediation system to prevent future occurrences of this type of incident These modifications
include
• Removing the chlorine tablet float from the holding tank (which interfered with the proper
operation of the level control system),
• Installing a second (redundant) level control switch in the holding tank,
• Modifying the pressure control switch on the silt filters to shut the system off if a high
pressure condition (clogged filters)occurs,
• Installing a pressure differential control switch to guard against future spills from other
system components
Water and sediment generated from the clean out of the City section of the storm drain are
contained in storage vessels onsite The sediment has been tested and profiled for disposal and
will be properly disposed of at an approved landfill The water has been tested and found to
contain no gasoline constituents Since the City of Stockton would not allow us to put this water
back into the storm drain, we will run this water through our onsite carbon filters and discharge it
to the sanitary sewer after obtaining a special discharge permit from the City of Stockton
0783 4
