T R Fourth Quarter 2005,Quarterly Groundwater Monitoring Report
Pilkington North America,Inc.,Lathrop,CA
Fourth Quarter 2005 Groundwater Monitoring Event Summary(November 8 and 9 2005)
Two sumps (SE sump and SW sump) and three monitoring wells (MW-1, MW-2, and MW-3) were
sampled at the above-referenced Site. The average groundwater elevation measured in the three Site
monitoring wells on November 8, 2005 decreased by 0.16 feet since the previous monitoring event on
August 17, 2005. The calculated groundwater gradient was 0.0027 feet per foot (ft/ft) to the east-
northeast. Total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as diesel, kerosene, and motor oil were not detected at
or above the laboratory reported detection limits in monitoring wells MW-1, MW-3, or the SE sump.
Total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as diesel were detected in MW-2 and the SW sump.
DIESEL SKIMMING OPERATIONS (AUGUST 26,2005 THROUGH NOVEMBER 9,2005)
Depth to groundwater, product thickness measurements, and product recovery data for diesel skimming
operations conducted from August 26, 2005 through November 9, 2005 are summarized in Table 1,below
and continued on the following page.
Approximately 5.19 gallons of product was recovered during the six skimming and system O/M events
conducted from August 26, 2005 through November 9, 2005. Modified passive skimmers and SoakEZ®
socks were located in recovery wells RW-2, RW-3, and RW-6. An active skimmer was located in RW-4.
All skimmers were removed from the site on September 16, 2005 due to insufficient fluid columns in the
recovery wells to operate. Product recovery from the Site's recovery wells has produced a cumulative
total of approximately 148.85 gallons of diesel. Historic product thickness measurements and product
removal data are presented in Table B and field notes, attached.
Table 1 -Diesel Thickness Measurements and Product Recover (Fourth Quarter 2005
Depth to Depth to Diesel Cumulative
Recovery Diesel
Date Diesel Groundwater Thickness Operations and Maintenance Notes
Well ID (feet) (feet) (feet) Removed
(gallons)
RW-1 - 14.20 - - Initial product recovery tank volume approximately 2.0 gallons.
RW-2 15.01 15.04 0.03 20.93 Recovered approximately 0.24 gallons of product from RW-4 and
RW-3 1492 1498 006 2215 W-6 using bailing recovery method.
