Box 944212 Sacramento, CA 94244-2120 RE: Cost Pre-Approval for Additional Site Characterization George's Service, 1600 Durham Ferry Road, Tracy, CA LOP Site Code No.; 1550; USTCFP Claim No.: 8475 Dear Mr. Marquez: In written requests dated November 9, 1995 and January 9, 1997, Ms. Mary Meays, Senior REHS for San Joaquin County Environmental Health Division (SJCEHD) requested additional soil and groundwater characterization work and risk evaluation work be performed at George's Service, 1600 Durham Ferry Road, Tracy, CA. On behalf of George and Mei Teranishi of George's Service, Geological Technics Inc. (GTI) has evaluated the existing soil and groundwater data,prepared a work plan dated January 29, 1996 and an addendum to the work plan dated January 20, 1997, addressing the need for further investigation. Copies of the Work Plan, SJCEHD correspondence, bids and an itemized budget spread sheet of costs for performing this work are enclosed for your review. In planning for this next work we have developed: • a summary of the work completed to date, • a proposed direction of the project from this point, • a proposed mechanism for bidding work for the USTCFP, • a tentative schedule for implementing the work. Summary of Work to Date On January 25, 1995, Del-Tech and GTI prepared a work plan for the preliminary soil and groundwater investigation. On February 17, 1995 SJCEHD made comments and requested modification to work plan which was submitted in an addendum to the work plan on February 23, 1995. The plan and addendum were approved with additional comments. On April 25, 1995, GTI, Del-Tech, and V&W installed 3 groundwater monitoring wells, 2 drilled boreholes, and 6 hand auger soil borings in an attempt to evaluate the lateral extent of soil and groundwater impacted by the release of gasoline on this property. The wells were monitored on May 4, 1995 and soil and groundwater samples were tested for TPH-G and BTEX compounds.
