Box 944212 <br /> Sacramento, CA 94244-2120 <br /> RE: Cost Pre-Approval for Additional Site Characterization <br /> George's Service, 1600 Durham Ferry Road, Tracy, CA <br /> LOP Site Code No.; 1550; USTCFP Claim No.: 8475 <br /> Dear Mr. Marquez: <br /> In written requests dated November 9, 1995 and January 9, 1997, Ms. Mary Meays, Senior <br /> REHS for San Joaquin County Environmental Health Division (SJCEHD) requested additional <br /> soil and groundwater characterization work and risk evaluation work be performed at George's <br /> Service, 1600 Durham Ferry Road, Tracy, CA. On behalf of George and Mei Teranishi of <br /> George's Service, Geological Technics Inc. (GTI) has evaluated the existing soil and <br /> groundwater data,prepared a work plan dated January 29, 1996 and an addendum to the work <br /> plan dated January 20, 1997, addressing the need for further investigation. <br /> Copies of the Work Plan, SJCEHD correspondence, bids and an itemized budget spread sheet of <br /> costs for performing this work are enclosed for your review. <br /> In planning for this next work we have developed: <br /> • a summary of the work completed to date, <br /> • a proposed direction of the project from this point, <br /> • a proposed mechanism for bidding work for the USTCFP, <br /> • a tentative schedule for implementing the work. <br /> Summary of Work to Date <br /> On January 25, 1995, Del-Tech and GTI prepared a work plan for the preliminary soil and <br /> groundwater investigation. On February 17, 1995 SJCEHD made comments and requested <br /> modification to work plan which was submitted in an addendum to the work plan on February <br /> 23, 1995. The plan and addendum were approved with additional comments. <br /> On April 25, 1995, GTI, Del-Tech, and V&W installed 3 groundwater monitoring wells, 2 drilled <br /> boreholes, and 6 hand auger soil borings in an attempt to evaluate the lateral extent of soil and <br /> groundwater impacted by the release of gasoline on this property. The wells were monitored on <br /> May 4, 1995 and soil and groundwater samples were tested for TPH-G and BTEX compounds. <br />
