Copies of the report have been, distributed to the agencies listed
below.
i As you are aware from earlier correspondence by the San Joaquin County Public Health'Services/Environmental.Health
Division(SJCPHS/EHD)dated September 20, 1999,Clearwater and the regulatory agency are in agreement to terminate
- operation of the existing remediation system. This is based on the ongoing results of nearly a year of system operation'
that indicate substantial recovery of gasoline from the subsurface (7,377 lbs) and coincident reduction in groundwater
contaminant levels. Very little gasoline recovery has occurred over the last three months'indicating the system has reached
its effective limit. The equipment will remain shut-down until I can schedule pick-up from the vendor, which will likely
happen within the next couple of weeks.
The groundwater quality will continue to be monitored for several quarters to evaluate longer term trends in contaminant
levels following remediation. Decisions regarding the need for additional remedial, will be made based on those results.
As mentioned in the SJCPHS/EHD letter, additional borings will be needed at some point to verify soil clean-up.
If you have any questions about the project or scheduling, please feel free to call either myself or Mr. Henry.Hurkmans at
(510) 893-5160.
Sincerely,
Clearwater Group, Inc.
Brian Gwinn, R.G.
Senior Geologist
enclosure
h cc: Ms. Lori Duncan, SJCPHS/EHD
Ms.Elizabeth Thayer,CVRWQCB
i
i .
520 Third Street,Suite 104 • Oakland,California 94607 • Telephone 510-893-5160 • Fax,510-893-5947
