E i _
fffflz,j woo
Reeves Exxon,2360 East Rd.,Tracy,CA
Site Code#1397
August 10, 1992
Page 2
backfilled. Groundwater_would be pumped-into_a_carbon rfiltration system and the
"clean. water would be pumped..back-into hewate =beanng-zone-via-an
infiltration well or gallery_ort_o}the City sewer)
• Vapor extraction is generally not a viable option for soil cleanup on sites where
fine grained soils are present, which is the case at this site. Likewise, though
possibly effective in controlling groundwater plume migration,'conventional pump
and treat techniques would not be expected to be efficient in remediating
groundwater.
7n addition to the above directive, in June 17, 1992 correspondence from PHS/EHD, the Pestana
Trust was asked to submit the following .information:
♦ A proposal for sampling and disposal of the stockpiled soils, and after approval
of the proposal, disposal of the soils in a timely.manner;
♦ All items omitted from the "Problem Assessment Report" per "Tri-Regional
Guidelines";
♦ A quarterly report for,the first quarter 1992;
♦ A sampling schedule.(prior to June 27, 1992) with direct PHSIEHD supervision
to meet second quarter°monitoring/sampling requirements;
♦ Quarterly monitoring/sampling reports by the 15th of the month following the
quarter's end;
♦ A report detailing locations of all domestic, municipal and Public water supply
wells within 2000 feet of the site by August 10, 1992;
♦ Verification-6f initiation of a soil stockpile maintenance" program until soil is
removed from the site.
In response to the above requests,. RESNA, on behalf of the Pestana Trust, has submitted the
following:
♦ A proposal for sampling and disposal of stockpiled soil was submitted .to
PHS/EHD in correspondence dated July 9, 1992 and approved verbally via
telephone by Mr. Infu'rna on July 21, 1992;
REL80792.LF
