• 30 January 2004 <br /> AGE-NC Project No 01-0865 <br /> Page 2 of 7 <br /> Purged water was stored on-site in labeled,55-gallon Department of Transportation(DOT)-approved <br /> drums <br /> 2 2 COLLECTION AND ANALYSIS OF GROUND WATER SAMPLES <br /> A water sample was collected from each purged well using a new disposable plastic bailer or a <br /> dedicated hose bailer Each water sample was transferred into three 40-m1 VOA vials containing <br /> 0 5 ml 18%hydrochloric acid as a sample preservative The samples were properly labeled,placed <br /> in a chilled container and transported under chain-of-custody to Cal Tech Environmental laboratories <br /> (CTEL) a State of California Department of Health Services (DHS)-certified analytical laboratory <br /> Selected samples were analyzed for <br /> • Total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline (TPH-g) in accordance with EPA <br /> Method 8015 Modified, <br /> • Benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and total xylenes(BTEX), di-isopropyl ether(DIPE), ethyl <br /> tertiary-butyl ether(ETBE),methyl tertiary-butyl ether(MTBE),tertiary-amyl methyl ether <br /> (TAME), tertiary-butyl alcohol (TBA), ethanol and methanol by EPA Method 8260B <br /> 23 COLLECTION AND ANALYSIS OF SURFACE WATER SAMPLES <br /> Water samples were collected from the north and south ends of the drainage ditch(DDN and DDS) <br /> and the east and west ends of the island drainage channel(IDCE and IDCW)using a new disposable <br /> bailer(Figure 2) Each water sample was transferred into three 40-m1 VOA vials containing 0 5 ml <br /> 18% hydrochloric acid as a sample preservative The samples were properly labeled, placed in a <br /> chilled container and transported under chain-of-custody to CTEL The samples were analyzed for <br /> • TPH-g in accordance with EPA Method 8015 Modified, <br /> • BTEX,DIPE, ETBE, MTBE, TAME, TBA, ethanol and methanol by EPA Method 8260B <br /> 3 0.
