' Report-Soil and Groundwater Investigation
Hemmn&Helen's Marina
September 26, 1995
' Page-2
-
on site during the UST removal to collect soil samples. The field activities were observed by Carol
' Oz of the SJCEHD. A small hole was found on the lower exterior of TK3 (diesel tank). Petroleum
staining and odors were noted in the soil beneath the former locations of the USTs. Groundwater was
' not encountered during the UST removal. Six (6) soil samples were collected by Condor from the UST
excavation at depths of 9 to 12 feet below the ground surface (bgs). The samples were analyzed for
' TPH-G (gasoline), BTEX, TEPH (diesel), EDB (ethylene dibromide), and total lead. Laboratory
analyses indicated elevated concentrations of TPH-G, TEPH, and BTEX constituents in the soil
' samples. For additional information, refer to Tank Pull Testing Results, prepared by Condor, dated
November 18, 1991.
3.0 FIELDWORK
' This section includes a description of the site preparation, hydropunch drilling, sampling, and
laboratory analysis.
t3.1 Site Preparation
Prior to the fieldwork, authorization was obtained from Reclamation District#2029 for the
' drilling to be conducted on the levee. Drilling permits were obtained from the SJCEHD. The work
area was marked with white paint and Underground Service Alert (USA) was notified at least 72 hours in
' advance of the fieldwork to locate and identify underground utilities in and near the work area. The
SJCEHD, and the Reclamation District were notified of the fieldwork schedule at least 48 hours in
tadvance.
' 3.2 Drilling Procedures
The hydropunch boreholes (HP-1, HP-2, and HP-3) were drilled by B&F Drilling of Rancho
' Cordova, California (C57 license #519428). James Wack of Condor was on site to supervise the
drilling, soil sampling, and groundwater sampling. Ronald Rowe of the SJCEHD was on site periodically
to observe the fieldwork. Gilbert Cosio of Murray, Bums, and Kienlen Engineering was on site to
observe the drilling activities as a Reclamation District representative. The hydropunch drilling
' locations are shown on Figure 2, Appendix A, Site Map. Prior to commencement of fieldwork, a
tailgate safety meeting was held and a site-specific Health and Safety Plan was discussed with, and
' presented to, all crew members for their signatures.
n
' « CONDOR
