XIT Vapor Extraction Unit (Attachment B)
for Firestone Store, Stockton, CA page 3 of 5
of independently controlled electrical coils, pull a
total of approximately 45 amps at 120 Volt, single phase,
and are located at the perimeter and center of the
oxidizer. During a twenty hour start up period, these
coils reach their operating temperature. If, during
normal operation, the VOC concentration in the process
I stream 18 sufficient, the oxidation of the VOCs will
generate enough thermal energy to periodically maintain
an acceptable operating temperature. At this condition,
current flow to the coils ceases. Temperature within the
bed is constantly monitored in two different locations to
assure adequate operating temperatures. The VES will
enter the shutdown mode should the oxidizer drop below
normal operating temperatures.
2. 4 Air Compressor
The air compressor supplies compressed air at
approximately 6. 3 cfm at 100 psi. The function of the
I air compressor is to actuate the automatic dilution
valve, and the four valves which control flow direction.
2. 5 Valving IHV-1, PV-11
The manual dilution valve (HV-1 ) is a twelve position
butterfly valve which allows an operator to adjust the
VOC concentration and/or flow from the extraction wells
during start-up and periodic maintenance.
The automatic dilution valve (PV-1 ) me a 6" butterfly
valve. This valve will purge the VES as a result of high
LEL concentration, and during changes in the direction of
flow.
IAs an option, the automatic dilution valve (PV-1 ) can be
a modulating butterfly valve which is mechanically
I actuated (optional) . This valve will regulate the VOC
concentration in the process stream.
2. 6 Enclosure
The electrical enclosure is rated NEMA 4 and houses most
of the electrical components.
3. 0 MAJOR INSTRUMENTATION
3. 1 LEL Monitor (AT-1 )
Ryan-Murphy Incorporated
"The Good Earth Company"
