' 23 April 2002
AGE-NC Project No 95-0142
properly labeled,and transported to a DHS-certified laboratory,in a clulled container under chain-of-
custody procedure, for analysis
During the "start-up" period for the ground water extraction system, operational parameters and
' ground water samples will be collected on a daily basis The anticipated start-up period will be
approximately two weeks `
' During the "start-up" period, five model 3001 Solinst Levelogger pressure transducers may be
installed in the shallow ground water monitoring wells Weekly data will be collected from the
' ground water level transducers
Water samples from the discharge line will be collected and analyzed to evaluate the effectiveness
' of the treatment system If the analytical results Indicate that detected hydrocarbon compounds are
below the allowable discharge limit, AGE will request the City of Stockton to allow continuous
discharge directly from the treatment system Into the sanitary sewer The GAC media will be
' replaced once the detected hydrocarbon compounds exceed the allowable discharge limits in water
samples analyzed from the treatment system
1
46 SOIL VAPOR EXTRACTION SYSTEM DESIGN
' Initiation of an SVE system Is proposed within the core petroleum hydrocarbon-Impacted soil area
The SVE system will consist of the four existing, dual-completed SVE wells VW-1 to VW-4
(Figure 2) In order to maximize the efficiency of the clean-up efforts, a continual 24-hour per day
' operation of the SVE unit is planned A catalytic destruction process is proposed for the recovered
hydrocarbon vapor by utilizing a direct electnc-heated catalytic-oxidizer soil VES
' The VES will be connected through a manifold box to the vapor recovery wells and should be able
to operate between 150 and 200 cubic feet per minute (cfm) Soil hydrocarbon vapor will be
' extracted from the proposed configuration of extraction wells using a vacuum blower and routed to
the oxidizer
Supplemental energy (i e electricity) will be supplied to the heating coils of the SVE system to
maintain an optimal temperature for a maximum destruction rate of hydrocarbon vapor A typical
destruction rate of 95% of hydrocarbon vapors is expected throughout the entire cleanup duration
Specifications of the system is illustrated in Appendix A
Advanced GcoEnvtronmentai,Inc
