' Bank of Stockton Page 2 <br /> Site Characterization-Work Plan <br /> Former Union Facility,-Cutter Lumber <br /> 3422&3440 S El Dorado,Stockton <br /> Project No 102 2 <br /> October 7,1996 <br /> 1 <br /> It is anticipated that the work herein described will provide a basis for groundwater <br />' characterization work and will help in the design of any remedial steps that may be <br /> needed <br />' 2.0 SITE HISTORY <br /> On the southerly part of the Property about 450 feet from the former "Oil Supply" <br />' Building, a former owner of the Property operated 3 UST's which were removed in 1989 <br /> and were found to have leaked fuel which impacted the soil and groundwater From <br /> 1991, to 1993, the tank site was over-excavated and a total of 5 groundwater monitoring <br />' wells were installed at locations around the former tank pit Groundwater monitoring <br /> information do not indicate this release is responsible for the impacted soil in the area of <br /> the former"Oil Supply" Building <br /> As a part of a groundwater monitoring event in November of 1995, the domestic water <br />' well was sampled and analyzed Detectable levels of gasoline range petroleum <br /> hydrocarbons were found in the water well As a result of the discovery, Geological <br /> Technics Inc conducted a review of public files in order to gain a better understanding of <br /> the past use of the Property The County Assessor's record for the Property was <br /> examined and documentation was found which revealed the existence of the former "Oil <br /> Supply" Building and at least one associated gasoline UST, several ASTs and a dispenser <br /> island which were situated 40 to 50 feet from the domestic water well A notation in the <br /> County Assessor's records, indicates the former Property owner leased the tanks and <br /> associated facilities from Union Oil Co <br />' To further investigate the former "Oil Supply" facility, Geological Technics Inc installed <br /> five 10 foot deep hand augered soil borings Soil samples were collected and tested from <br /> each of the borings The results of the borings and sampling suggest the former gasoline <br /> tank had been removed at some unknown time and the pit was back filled with soil <br /> Beneath the confines of the original tank pit, the soil was found to contain significant <br /> levels of gasoline range petroleum hydrocarbons One of the borings was installed in the <br /> area of the former dispenser island and several feet north of the UST pit Soil samples <br />' collected from this boring were found to contain diesel contamination which indicates the <br /> piping associated with the diesel pump may also have leaked <br /> The domestic water well was opened in the course of the previous Geological Technics <br /> Investigation for the purpose of gaining information on its mechanical condition This <br /> work was accomplished, in part, by conducting a down hole television survey of the well <br /> It was found that the well has blank 4 inch steel casing to a depth of 101 feet, and is open <br /> from 101 feet to its total depth of 110 feet A suspected casing hole was found at about <br /> 2937 Veneman Ave,#B240 Phase One Environmental Inc Phone(209)569-0293 <br /> Modesto,CA 95356 Fax(209)569-0295 <br />
